Hays Commencement Details

Date: Thursday, May 14, 2026
Location: Gross Memorial Coliseum, FHSU Campus

11:00am All Programs:
Programs include: Associate Degree Nursing, Automotive Technology, Business Office Management, Business Technology, Construction Technology, Culinary Arts, Electrical Technology, Plumbing, Heating & AC, Practical Nursing, Telecommunications & Network Technology, and Welding.

**Combined Degree students will attend their current program ceremony and be recognized by highest degree earned. Degrees include Applied Technology, Building Construction Technology, General Business, and Welding Engineering Technology.

Details:

Students are required to be at Gross Memorial Coliseum at 10:00am
Enter through Guest Entrance located at Gates 2 & 3
Guests will be directed to balcony seating. Guests unable to use the balcony seating will be escorted to accessibility seating which is located on the GMC floor.
Parking will be available in the Gross Memorial Coliseum parking lot.
Candid photos will be taken during the ceremony. Students can download a copy of the photos from Fort Hays Tech | North Central's Facebook Page. There is no cost to the student.
After the ceremony concludes, the President will dismiss the graduates who will immediately exit the ceremony floor and meet up with their guests outside of GMC. Plan accordingly and prearrange a designated area to meet your guests outside of the building. Graduates will not be encouraged to leave the be encouraged to leave the building so that following ceremonies can be set up.

Graduating Students Check-In

Graduates will check-in at Gate 2 or Gate 3. The graduate will enter the area that says, "Graduate Entrance Only" and guests will enter the door labeled guest door entrance (located at both gates). The graduate will be directed to the Registrar’s table for their name card. After receiving their name card, the graduate will be directed to line up in Cunningham Hall according to the row listed on their name card. Commencement staff will be directing students from GMC to the correct hallways in Cunningham.

Accessible Seating

Seating is reserved on the entrance level of Gross Memorial Coliseum (GMC) for guests with accessibility needs. A commencement staff member will escort the individual(s) and one guest to the accessibility seating. Seating in this area is in high demand and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests needing this accommodation are encouraged to arrive early.

Accessible Parking

Drivers will find Gates 2 and 3, at the northwest and southwest corners, most convenient for dropping off passengers with disabilities.

Close Captioning

Close captioning will be available on the jumbo screen in Gross Memorial Coliseum during each ceremony.
